- The UNEEDIT collection of utils 12/8/88

-
- Just a note: I AM NOT THE AUTHOR OF ANY OF THESE PROGRAMS!
- I wrote the documentation for CPROMPT, but that was gotten out of
- PC-WORLD Magazine. I kept the programs with more than 1 necessary file
- in ARC form, so you can look over each individually.
-
- Description of use:
- -------------------
-
- CALCQF calculates the optimum safe RAM refresh rate for your CPU, and
- creates a version of PC-Magazine's Qfresh.com to adjust it.
-
- CORETEST measures the speed and power of your HD, and compares it to
- many brands (including CORE's, of course!).
-
- CPROMPT (witch ANSI.SYS or some other ANSI device driver) gives you
- a clock in the upper-right hand corner of the screen, and allows you
- to colorize all screen text as you wish.
-
- IAU changes the interleave of your HD without having to erase and
- restore your HD. Of course, a backup for safety is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
- If you have an IBM clone, you may have to run it with the "/compat"
- option. Make sure you reboot without any disk cacheing software, or
- anything else that might interfere with the HD while this program runs.
- (I.e. don't call up Sidekick, PCTools, or any other TSRs)
-
- MAPMEM lists what's loaded into memory, and how much it takes up,
- as well as what's free.
-
- PERSPEC.ANS is a shameless advertisement for PHILADELPHIA PERSPECTIVE,
- where I'm a Co-Sysop.
-
- RAMIT is for ATs or other 16 bit computers (AT&T 6300s, like mine,
- too. Others are listed in the documentation) that might have an 8
- bit HD controller (again, listed in the documentation). It loads
- the controller information into memory (mine takes up only 5k),
- speeding up the HD.
-
- SPEED measures the speed of yuor CPU, and compares it to the PC
- and AT speeds.
-
- SYSID lists everything about your computer. 12 pages of DMAs, mouses,
- extended/expanded memory, etc. If you want to know if you have it,
- this will tell you.
-
- If you find any more recent updates of these utilities, or any others
- that you can't live without (I know many of us can't live without Norton
- Utilites, or some such things, but PD or shareware only please!) please
- call PHILADELPHIA PERSPECTIVE at (215) 677-5765, where I'm a Co-Sysop.
- And if you're local, please call anyway, we want users!
